The Division's Office of Victim-Witness Advocacy assists those
victimized by crime by supporting and expanding victim/witness
services across the state. The Office provides information on
New Jersey's criminal justice system, referrals to social agencies
for assistance and counseling, assistance in applying for compensation,
assistance with the return of recovered stolen property, assistance
in presenting a written statement about the impact of the crime,
notifications of change in case status, escort or accompaniment
during court appearances and assistance with restitution issues.
The Office of Victim-Witness Advocacy develops and implements
strategies, procedures and standards for law enforcement and
for the 21-county Victim-Witness Advocacy offices.
